Welcome to the Charles Gee Group In 1887, Mr. Charles Gee opened his shipbroker's office in Gracechurch Street, in the City of London. It is clear, from very early correspondence, that he had many varied chartering and agency connections in the Baltic and North Atlantic, which remain major markets for the Firm. A few years later, Mr. Gee invited two of his staff into Partnership. This practice continues, thus maintaining a private Firm, which is wholly owned by the current Partners, who are involved in and responsible for the day to day running of the business. In the 1970's it became clear that diversification and expansion was necessary and accordingly the Import and Export Departments turned their activities more towards creating a 'door to door' service for their customers. This led to the Partners purchasing a fleet of T.I.R. trailers and a transport company, C & H (Hauliers) Ltd., thus enabling the firm to broaden and compliment its services. In the 1980's, the Firm saw further innovative expansion with the addition of transport brokerage services enhancing its growing world-wide Forwarding Department and a move into more specialised modes of transport. This embraced the delivery of bulk containers and 'out of gauge' pieces with custom built equipment, supplied by its wholly owned leasing company, Gee Trailers Ltd. The same decade also witnessed the introduction of its expertise into the Aerospace arena, which has led to current representation of both civil and military aircraft manufacturers.
